I like that, having the Callendulas peaking out from under the foliage is lovely.

What a lovely summery arrangement.

We miss out on art month having it in winter.

This is really beautiful.

[identity profile] vjezkova.livejournal.com 2008-08-03 10:37 am (UTC)(link)
I admit I would be lost without the plants and flowers, and I can´t do paintings, drawings or handicraft...

[identity profile] vjezkova.livejournal.com 2008-08-03 10:37 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you very much.

Yellow and orange Callendulas are everywhere in my garden as well inside the house. But they do not last long.

Oh lovely! It's nice to see such bright colours when our own garden is very very bare...

[identity profile] linda-joyce.livejournal.com 2008-08-03 10:49 am (UTC)(link)
In my carden they don't even last long enough to grow, something eats them and it's not snails or slugs. Back before I started feeding birds I experimented by completely surrounding one or two plants with slug pellets, no gaps it was like a little blue wall, they still got eaten.

[identity profile] vjezkova.livejournal.com 2008-08-03 10:54 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you, and you have got a point, I would be lost without all those flowers and plants.

[identity profile] vjezkova.livejournal.com 2008-08-03 10:57 am (UTC)(link)
Now this is strange, the flowers are rather aromatic and I can´t imagine a pest that would eat it! You could try to place there some sticky paper to catch the culprit...I am really at a loss.

I love the arrangement. And the colours are so bright and happy! It just makes me smile. :)

[identity profile] vjezkova.livejournal.com 2008-08-03 01:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you, I hoped most of you could feel positive.

I bet it's beetles. I have a little tree that's been munched nearly bare. Twice I saw inconspicuous beetles eating it, but they flew away when I went to grab them.

You are very good with arranging shapes and colors. This is a very attractive still life.

[identity profile] linda-joyce.livejournal.com 2008-08-03 03:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Mam always blamed Woodlice, we have them by the bucket load.

[identity profile] entropy-house.livejournal.com 2008-08-03 03:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know what woodlice eat, but I think they're fairly slow, so if it was them, you'd have probably seen them.

[identity profile] vjezkova.livejournal.com 2008-08-03 03:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, this sounds very probable.

[identity profile] vjezkova.livejournal.com 2008-08-03 03:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Blush. Thank you very much!

So simple, so bright, so clever.

Too many slug pellets actually reduces their effectiveness - the smell can repel them.

[identity profile] linda-joyce.livejournal.com 2008-08-03 07:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't use them any more any way, too many birds call my garden home now. But with or without the wall of pellets the they still got eaten.

[identity profile] vjezkova.livejournal.com 2008-08-03 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Blush. You are too kind, it is easy with beautiful flowers!

[identity profile] capriuni.livejournal.com 2008-08-03 08:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Those colors are fabulous, as is the contrasts with all the different textures. If you were so inclined, I think this would be a wonderful image to print on the front of a greeting card.

Good for you. I've given them up as well.

I'm starting to find other methods of slug control that seem to work on the allotment and don't involve slug pellets.

My lettuces are looking fine.

[identity profile] vjezkova.livejournal.com 2008-08-03 09:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, thank you - really, this sounds nice. But without your comment I wouldn´t even think of it! :-)

[identity profile] linda-joyce.livejournal.com 2008-08-04 07:41 am (UTC)(link)
the birds are paying rent buy keeping my slugs down to an acceptable level and since I'm not a vegetable gardner that's fine by me.
