How far...
Feb. 4th, 2008 07:09 amYesterday we had a discussion about the incoming presidential elections here. The campaign has already changed into a kind of a farce. We agree we have never witnessed so embarrasing haggling. We do not vote a president straight, he (never been she yet) is elected by the Parliament. There is a big try to get rid of the present President Klaus, who represents the right orientation, from the left wing of the opposition. They have found a new candidate - a US citisan (!!!!!!!!!!) Švejnar, a politician, who has lived in USA all the time! How can such a person from abroad understand the needs of this country and the people? Oh yes, he is well- educated and intelligent, that he is...He brought here a kind of US show-speaches, he travells around and speaks and speaks - very populistic, very entertainig.
So Klaus feels he has to do his share too. The result? A travesty. Only a brainless ones do not see what is behind - who is behind: financial groups, political hawks etc.
I wonder how far this haggling can go and if someone of you noticed this show in the heart of Europe?
