I can“t resist, well, I have just returnes from a Transfusion Station where I left another 450ml of my blood! And it is a king of a jubilee because as a blood donor I gave blood 55times. I feel elated as usual, not only fhysically - you feel like drinking shampagne - but emotionally I am absolutely happy, grinning at unknown people. It is always the same - the feeling you are useful and can help other people.
Now I will drink red wine, cheers to everybody!!!

55 donations. Wow!

You're well ahead of me. I only started donating blood last year.

I know how you feel, I had to stop giving blood after 30 pints as I had started taking an anti-inflamitory drug based on Aspirin for my arthritis then. Since two of the most common needs for blood is severe bleeding and haemophilia and Aspirin thins the blood and makes both problems worse by blood was no good any more. I still am on the bone marrow donor register but I think I am now too old except if I was the only possible one to save a life, and I am a common blood type so that is unlikely. Congratulations and virtual champagne for getting to 55

Well done. Like [livejournal.com profile] linda_joyce I had to stop because of medications (high blood pressure) and I'd worked out that I could just get to my gold badge before I retired, but now I never will.

Congratulations! I'm hoping to give some blood next week, but last time I went they turned me down. It's a bit frustrating, because they keep ringing up to ask if I'll come, and then when I get there they have a tendency to say "oh, but you've done this thing that we don't mention in the general guidelines so we won't risk using your blood for the next few months". I would never have got to 55 anyway, as I didn't start until a couple of years ago, but this is slowing me down even more...
