Pasting is not good...:-)

So I will try this even though you Must know it - but for me it was and exhilarating discovery.
During out trip to Scotland we visited a small town of Culross. Our guide talked about nice small houses and a palace. It was early in the morning, only crazy Czechs were strolling in the streets. Yes, nice, we agreed and then we found a small square. My friend nudged me and announced that we had found the palace. However there was a bust in the middle of the square, nothing big, but I went straight towards it, curious as ever. A man in a military uniform...the name Cochrane. COCHRANE! It can´t be THAT Cochrane - or can be?
I looked at an inscription on the stone pavement below - Peru, CHile, 19th century - YES!
I was looking at Sharpe´s Devil, Admira Cochrane, who almost succeeded at establishing the United States of South America, a man of excellent talents and visions, a man who is called the Devil in B. Cormwell novel about Richard Sharpe!
As a devoted Sharpe fan, I was totally crazy, hopping there, dancing - yes, sill, silly me - of course, no one from our group knew wha I was doing such an ado - they just LOOKED at me, you know...if you are Sharpe fans.
Cochrane was born here.

I love Sharpe. (I was most disappointed when I discovered that the Talavera eagle existed only in the stories)

My Eldest is a Sharpe fan, but my OH prefers Aubrey (O'Brian's Master and Commander etc.) And Aubrey is totally based on Cochrane.

I'm about to start reading the biography of Cochrane that I bought OH last Christmas.
