Cat Rescue
Sep. 22nd, 2008 07:32 amYesterday in the evening I rescued a cat.
It was still some light, I just looked out of the kitchen window and saw something dark moving in the grass. I headed to the door and our Tygr (the cat) almost tripped me - he shot out! I followed him and discovered a small cat with her entire head in a tin! You know, such a small tin for cat food. The poor thing must have found it somewhere and wanted to get inside and got trapped.
Oh, it was horrible, she was crying, obviously exhausted. But when I tried to catch her she hissed and fought, frightened beyond a reason. Tygr was frantic around me, urging me to to something. No one was at homoe to help me, so I ran for a big thick blanket, trapped the fighting cat, wrapped her in it and squeezed the bunch between my knees (I was kneeling on the grass). I was speaking to the poor animal all the time - she must have been desperate. Then I took the tin and tugged carefully - and I managed to remove it!
Ah, poor cat was dishavelled but seemed uninjured. As soon as I released her, she ran to the neighbouring garden and Tygr watched her from out fence.
Well, I know why I neve leave empty tins outside - there are always scavenging stray cats around...

on 2008-09-22 12:51 pm (UTC)You did so well, realising how to handle it. I'm glad you were able to get it off - and without hurting her, too.
