Really, I am recovering - well, I have recovered, and I feel very happy. Yesterday it was quite different though. You know, our new windows needed the final touch and two bricklayer were invited for yesterday to repair the plaster and prepare the windowsills for the next step of covering them with a nice wide boards.
The house was already clean and everyone assured me that the workers would do no mess. Still, I decided to use the plastic sheets from Tuesday on the floor and under the windows. This was one of my best ideas of the month! Believe me, it was so horrible that I went out to shed a tear!
The men were good but left unbelievable mess behind, one of them smoked, I had to roast a duck for them and dumplings ... because these two were old acquintances and they took an extra time to come. It is always: as soon as you have got someone from this circle, you have to offer a special care and put up with various extremes. Mind you, the men from the window company on Tuesday  wanted nothing and still received their good lunch and all. But these two wanted home- made meal. I was slaving like mad to cook and clean all. I managed to finish at six pm.
I wanted to go to the town and meet with my former schoolmates from the primary school - we had a gathering. So you can imagine my frantic effort!  Fortunately I had only a slight delay and the gathering was a success!  Only the window panes are still stained but it is rainig now and there will be time to finish it. And WÏTH PLEASURE this time!
The new windows are like a miracle. The temperature in the house is higher, all looks new and clean and light, and almost no noise from outside!
Um, my back hurt  but, hahaha, there was one worse thing: My bottom after the anti tetanus injection! The right half , I mean the muscle, was sttiff ...I had to giggle. Evidently the activity helped, it is all right now.
More adventure during all this: A lady from a local shop called because there were three calves near the shop and dangerously near the road. I called my husband and he yelled that these three had escaped. So I ran there. However there are only meadows around . There is also a canal and on the opposite side there are cows in the pasture, they belong to one of the neighbours. The calves saw them and wanted to get there and stopped in f¨ront of a deep canal. I got near but they kept escapin in the run. Finally I put off my shirt, twisted it inot a rope and cought the worst rascal. Well, it might have been a good idea but the anïmal was 140kg and I couldn´t drag him with me.
In the meantime my husband came with the pick-up and they loaded the renegades in and drove t¨hem back where they belonged. I went back to my windows, winded.
By the way, the road is almost ready but the fish harvest is over and they slowed down considerably. However we can use it quite comfortably!!!

"By the way, the road is almost ready but the fish harvest is over and they slowed down considerably. "

I don't understand this part. 'Fish harvest'?

I laughed at your story with the calves. These things are always funny afterwards, though never at the time!

Ah, you may have not read my report about the road: The work went faster considerably because the fish-company had to harvest tuns of fish from a nearby pond and they needed our road very urgently. So it was like a miracle, the work was finished very fast, only some details remain to be done. The company, however, will not urge it forward any more...

I thought cows were placid creatures who never did any thing wrong, here it is sheep we have problems with, but they at least are smart enough to learn road sense. There is a growing group that we call the valley flock. They started about 10 years back with 2 ewes and a ram that had got over the cattle grid on their mountain pasture and wandered down to the valley. They've got up to about 10 now, every now and then the farmer manages to catch them and take them back but soon the first 3 get out again and bring a few of the babies with them.

With sheep, I am not surprised at all.
The calves can be such rascals, really! There is a small gang of bull teenagers troublemakers every year, they cause problems in autumn. They don´t hesitate to go through an electric fence to get to the apples around the road next to our pasture. It is quite common that the police call us at 2/3 in the night because the gang occupies the road and eat the apples. We have to get up, i just put something over my pyjama, and go there. My husband is usually so peeved that i leave him with the guys from the police and herd the rascals back myself . Well, my husband is bad runner and he frightens the animals easily with his WILE vocabulary. They know they did wrong and are easy to get back - throught the fence again.
Now the whole herd will be moved to the shed to stay there over the winter.
