Really. Czech Republic, together with many other countries, is still cut off the gas piping from Russia. All this due to a dispute beween Russia and the Ukraine about the debts for gas. Consequences: our gas reserves 20 days, then we will feel a regulation, mostly for the factories, plus a domino effect in economy following. If they do not resolve the problem. Our neighbours in Slovakia have already experienced serious problems, as well as some countries in Balcan  - Bulgaria and Romania freezing.
Our government took over a chairmanship of EU yesterday. Ha. Allow me no comment...but a ceremony was pompous enough, that is was.
Plus a mission of our minister of foreign affairs in Gaza: blah, blah, blah.
Plus problems with weather - extremely low temperatures, problems with water piping and electricity wiring.
Oh yes. Sorry for that. And I  tried to be...sober. all the "proper" expressions keeping for myself...Grrrr

That is terrible. I saw on the news the trouble that Slovakia was having with the lack of gas supplies and wondered if you too would have the same problems. I hope your politicians get themselves organised and solve this quickly. You have every right to be outraged by the lack of action by all the governments that allow their people to suffer in such a cold winter.

*sends warm thoughts of summer to you*

That's terrible! I hope they sort it out.

Do you have a fireplace where you can burn wood from the forest if you need to?

As you may know, they sorted out nothing yet.
Ah, as for heating, we are safe, we use an ecology-friendly furnace for burning wood. Lots of work but in such a situation, perfect. So far we have enough wood, we made a good reserve in summer.

I hope they do sort it out soon, I get the impression it's Russia trying to gain its dominance in the area by blackmail rather than guns but it is terrible for the countries that are suffering. I hope you have an alternate form of heating, I don't so if that ever happens here I will be moving in with the cousins and their new wood burning stove.

Of course, there is dirty policy behind! Yes, and we even do not use gas for heating at all, just a furnace for burning wood ( and sometimes coal)!Today the talks about gas failed...

I hope it's resolved soon. I'd hate to think of a friend without heating in this weather!

(These crises always seem more real when a friend is directly affected - it's definitely one of the good things about LJ is that it makes us more aware of people in other countries)

I send a baby sloth to warm your cold fingers.

My sympathy. Seeing this looming problem, and knowing how bad things could be, if they don't sort it out. I hope that they can resolve it soon.

While there is life, there is hope. I do not rely on our rotten politicians, more on the international cooperation. The weather today at night is suppposed to be the coldest in this week. I am feeding the fire like mad! So far we have almost 19°C in the house, which is excellent!

Sending you warm hugs! Politicians...less said about them the better. Unfortunate that they all seem to be the same anywhere in the world. Hopefully you are staying warm and safe.
