vera_jLalalalala! It works again! It was, as I suspected, out PC , and my son came to my rescue. Actually he found me in tears and as soon as he learned my problem, he only shook his head over me, muttering something about Women...ha, ha.
Well, there was a bug and he promptly killed it and re- started the machine but i had to change my password.
Thank you all for your kind support and help and all - I am SO happy to have you back, my friends!!!
